Description
This is a 22-slide PowerPoint program that covers a vitally important safety topic; that of ‘struck by’ incidents. The material explains several procedures for safe and effective emergency vehicle positioning at highway incidents; called Safe Parking but know by Federal Highway materials as Safe Positioning.
Topics are relevant for ambulance/EMS vehicle positioning, blocking with small PD or FD vehicles or positioning the ‘Block’ with a large/heavy FD vehicle.
Page 141 of this section is included because it displays a recommended best practice for cone deployment when closing a lane of a street or highway.
The Safe Parking info is on pages 139- 141 in the Vehicle Rescue 1-2-3 book.
The PowerPoint program includes all the images from the appropriate pages of the book. Each of the 22 slides has a text box that contains the two or three sentences that appear with that picture in the book. To form a Presenter Lesson Plan, there are also ‘Instructor Notes’ for the slides along with training tips, recommendations, advice on presenting the info, and more.
Due to the Open-style of the file, the program can be added to or have slides re-organized so the presentation better suits the specific protocols in use by the responder agency.
