Description
This is a 72-slide PowerPoint program that explains many different stabilization principles as well as the unique concept of extrication ‘weightloss’ at a crash scene.
Included is information on stabilization techniques using stepchocks, cribbing, and various strut systems for passenger vehicles on their wheels, on their roof, as well as side-resting. Two different commercially-available strut systems are shown although the brand of strut is not as important as its’ proper use.
The strategy of vehicle stabilization is detailed on 11 entire pages of the book so the PowerPoint for stabilization covers pages 153-163 in the Vehicle Rescue 1-2-3 book.
Stabilization is a fundamental task that can be made more challenging due to modern vehicle designs; run-on-flat tires, deployable running boards, high ground clearance vehicles, etc. Because passenger vehicles weighing less that 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (US) are addressed in the program, the task of stabilization falls under the NFPA 1006 Operation-level category.
The Stabilization PowerPoint program includes all the images from the appropriate pages of the book including various crashed vehicle types, conditions, and positions.
On each of the 72 slides, a text box exists that contains the two or three sentences that appear with that image in the book. There are also Presenter ‘Notes’ for the slides with training tips, recommendations, advice on presenting the info, and more.
