University of Extrication Ron Moore's University of Extrication is the online home for training tips, news and information pertaining to vehicle extrication and rescue.

I was able to capture some images of a new model Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in-hybrid vehicle on display recently. Besides a complete vehicle to look at, Volvo included a cut-away vehicle showing the hybrid components of the XC90.

As a fellow vehicle rescue instructor, I always want you to be aware of new, interesting and important vehicle technology changes that are taking place among automobile manufacturers.

Vehicle rescue instructors are encouraged to closely review the images provided here of this brand new truck body structure.

Included in Part 2 of our look at the Acura TLX are several additional images. This Body-In-White vehicle was on display at the International Auto Show courtesy of the American Iron & Steel Institute.

During my research time at the North American International Auto Show in January, I was able to get several good images of Body-In-White vehicles on display by the American Iron & Steel Institute.

I have mentioned in the seminars I present that the most common location for stored gas airbag inflators for roof airbag systems is on or near the C-post of the vehicle. This information may be right if you look at the just four-door sedan vehicles only.

Remember, a ‘spider web’ on the windshield on the passenger’s side can be caused by three things; 1) unrestrained occupant contact, 2) airbag deployment, or 3) a flying object inside the vehicle.

When training for vehicle rescue, responders consider electrical system shutdown a necessary task when working at a Real World injury accident; especially when occupants are trapped and extrication work must be accomplished.
